How Can I Apply for a Driving License?

In order to be eligible to apply for a driving license, you must fulfilled the following criteria and perquisites:-
• Aged 18 years and above for motorcycle and private vehicle usage
• Aged 21 years and above for commercial and heavy vehicle usage
• Apply a Provisional Driving License (Validity: 3 months)
• Completed Application for a License or for Renewal of a Licence to Drive a Motor Vehicle Form (New Provisional License Fee: B$5.00)
• Copy of Smart Identification Card
• Ability to read (with glasses if worn) at a distance of 12 metres
• Meet/Interview with the Licensing Officer
• Enrollment at registered driving school

Can I Renew My Driving License or / and Driving License - Road Tax using LTD online services?

You can renew your driving license and road tax using LTD online services link here. For renewal of driving license, it is advisable to have you must have E-darussalam account in order to use the services. In order to have E-darussalam account, please register here.

I have Lost/Missing/Misplaced or Damaged Driving License?

Please go to your nearest Police Station to file a report for Lost/Missing/Misplaced or Damaged Driving License. Then you must submit the completed application for a license or for renewal of a license to drive a motor vehicle form. The Service fee is B$10.00.

Is It Possible for Me to Book For Vehicle Inspection in LTD?

Yes, you may book for the vehicle inspection for at least 3 days before the date of inspection. You may contact LTD hotline 2448009 or you can go directly to the Booking Reservation Counter, Lane 6 and 7, VIC, LTD headquarters during office hours: 8.00am - 12.00pm and 1.45 – 4.15pm. You are advised to come 15 minutes earlier before booking time for inspection.

I Have Lost/Missing/Misplaced Registration Card/Book? What Should I Do?

Please go to your nearest Police Station to file a report for Lost/Missing/Misplaced Registration Card/Book. Then you must pay the service fee for vehicle inspection that is B$5.00 (If vehicle information cannot be retrieved from SPD) and the charges for issuance of new registration book which is B$20.00.

How Can I Apply for a Driving License?

In order to be eligible to apply for a driving license, you must fulfilled the following criteria and perquisites:-

How to Apply for New/Full Driving License?

In order to be eligible to apply for a new/full driving license, you must fulfilled the following criteria and perquisites:-
• Passed driving test (for new applicant)
• Completed Application for a License or for Renewal of a License to Drive a Motor Vehicle Form
• Charges for issuance of full driving license:

• Drivers aged 70 years and above are required to undergo a medical fitness test and the driving license issued will be of one year validity only.
• For driving license classifications 4, 5, 6, 6A, 11 and 12, the driver must hold a class 3 driving license and the driving license issued will be of one year validity only.
• Driving licenses for heavy or public service vehicles cannot be renewed without the driver’s medical fitness certificate.
• For foreign drivers, the driving license for heavy or public service vehicles issued will be of one year validity only.
• A fee of B$10.00 will be charged for failure to renew driving license after a period of 60 days (2 months) from the date of expiry.
• If a driving license has expired for 3 years or more, the driver will be required to undergo certain tests.

How to Apply for International Driving Permit?

You must submit the completed application form with two (2) passport-sized photographs and copy of valid driving license (1 year validity). The Service Fee will be B$15.00.

How Can I Change/Retain my Vehicle Number?

You must submit the completed application for transfer of vehicle registration number form and copy of registration card/book and change/retain Fee is B$55.00. Payment can be done at Counters 11 and 12 at LTD Gadong headquarters. Amendment of Vehicle License Fee will be B$10.00. Payment can be done at Counter 5 after completion of engraving at Vehicle Inspection Centre.

How Can I Transfer The Ownership Of My Car?

You must write an application letter with copies of smart identification card and driving license of both transferor and transferee. For new registration number that has not been registered, full payment of the bid is required. The Service Fee will be B$5.00. Transfer will only be allowed between spouses (husband and wife), offspring (father and child or mother and child) and siblings (brother and sister, etc) (approval will be given at the Director’s discretion) except in cases where the registration number has been suspended.

How To Apply For Extension For The Change/Retain Vehicle?

You must write an application letter with Details of the registration number. The service fee will be B$5.00.

How to Apply Vehicle Write-Off?

You must write an application letter with original of the registration card/book. The service fee will be B$5.00 and provide the photograph of the vehicle.

How to Apply for a Notice of Non-Use in Respect of a Motor Vehicle?

You must submit the completed notice of non-use in respect of a motor vehicle form and the original registration card/book and the service fee is B$5.00.

What documents should I bring during the Inspection for Vehicle Road worthiness (Vehicle Inspection Centre)?

You must submit the original registration card/book and the service fee for Vehicle Inspection: B$5.00 (Motor vehicles and trailers) and the service fee for motorcycle is B$2.00.

What documents should I bring during the Second and Subsequent Inspection for Vehicle Road worthiness (Vehicle Inspection Centre)?

You must bring the original registration card/book and the service Fee for Vehicle Inspection: B$10.00 (Motor vehicles and trailers) and the service fee for motorcycle is B$4.00.

How Can I Change My Address?

You must submit the completed application for change of address form with the original registration card/book and the service fee will be B$5.00.

How Do I Transfer Of Ownership Of The Vehicle?

In order to be eligible for the ownership transfer of the vehicle, you must fulfilled the following perquisites:-
• Completed Transfer of Ownership of Motor Vehicle (Regulation 48a) Form
• Original Registration Card/Book
• Copies of Smart Identification Card and Driving License of both transferor and transferee (documents must be signed)
• Insurance coverage must be in the transferee’s name
• Service Fee for Vehicle Inspection: B$5.00
• Service Fee: B$5.00
• For transfer of ownership where the transferor is deceased, a letter/certificate issued by the court and the estimated/appraised value of the vehicle from JKR are required.

How Can I Apply For The Application For Government Or Bank Loan Claim/Ceased?

In order to be eligible for the application for government or bank loan claim/ceaased, you must fulfilled the following perquisites:-
• Original Registration Card/Book
• Service Fee: B$5.00
• Letter/Memo of the Loan Claim/Ceased from the government or bank
• Estimated/appraised value of the vehicle from JKR

In order to re-registering of confiscated vehicles through auction, you must fulfilled the following perquisites:-

The following below are the perquisites for affixing advertisements or logos onto the vehicle:-
• Application letter
• Photographs of the exterior of the vehicle from four angles (Front, Rear, Left and Right)
• Letter of Acknowledgement issued by the Motor Transport Licensing Authority (MTLA)
• Letter from the Language and Literature Bureau (Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka) with both Jawi and Rumi spellings where the Jawi spelling must be twice as big as the Rumi spelling.
• Please ensure when affixing advertisements or logos that it is in compliance with the regulations as set out by the Motor Transport Licensing Authority (MTLA) e.g. vehicle weight, retro-reflective strips, speed limit direction, etc.

The following below are the perquisites for applying for installing vehicle roofing:-
• Application letter
• Photographs of the exterior of the vehicle from four angles (Front, Rear, Left and Right)
• Original and copy of vehicle registration card/book
• Copy of Miscellaneous License
• Roofing framework must be fitted either with bolts and nuts or fabricated to the vehicle’s body
• Height of the roofing must not exceed 1.75 of the wheel track
• Weight of the vehicle after the installation of the roofing must also be submitted

How to Apply for A Standing, Stall or Booth Vehicle for Commercial Use?

The following below are the perquisites for applying for A Standing, Stall or Booth Vehicle for Commercial Use:-
• Application to be submitted to the Municipal Department or the District Office
• The Municipal Department or the District Office will then write to the Land Transport Department for the suitability of the vehicle
• The Land Transport Department will then inspect the suitability of the proposed vehicle
• If in compliance, the annual vehicle license fee will be converted to the commercial vehicle license fee

• Weight of the vehicle after the installation of the trailer must also be submitted

How to Apply for Approved Workshop by LTD?

The following below are the perquisites for applying for approved workshop:-
• Completed Application Form
• Business registration certificate issued by the Ministry of Finance
• Academic qualifications and work experience
• One passport-sized photograph
• Copy of identification card
• Applicant will be called for an interview at a later date
• If approved, an official letter will be issued to inform other relevant agencies after site inspection has been conducted by related government agencies.
